Staying on Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine is an immersion in the history of art. Many famous painters (such as Jamie Wyeth) have spent time on the Island creating great works of art. My visit included plenty of foggy days. On one of those mornings while staying at Influence Cottage, I found myself admiring the view from the kitchen window. The porch of the well-known Red House next door offered the final touch for a red, white and blue composition. The copper lobster form hanging on the wall added balance and emphasized the proximity of the sea.
