"Milky Way Over Boot Arch:" My trip to Alabama Hills was in early March, when the Milky Way core was just beginning to make its appearance, but at about 4am, just before the dawn's light started blotting it out! Part of my time here was filled with clouds and snow storms, so on my last morning, it was a race against time as I got up very early and headed out in the dark, to canvas the vast landscape for a specific arch known as "Boot Arch," among other names. Thankfully, I had located it previously during the daytime, but of course, things always look different in the dark! Hopefully, its name is evident in this image, although the angle was low in order to capture the stars in the sky. Nikon D810, Nikkor 14-24mm.
