From the sidewalk below Annette and Dennis' nest, I captured this image two days after the nestlings hatched. The hawks had no trouble navigating through the branches of the oak trees. I didn't realize Dennis was bringing a meal to his mate and their offspring until I viewed the digital image on my PC. A dead mouse was in the vice-like grip of Dennis's talons. This image was taken on 4-6-2014 at 1:28 p.m. with a Canon EOS 7D and a 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 Canon lens set at 135mm, 1/2000s, f/5.6, ISO 800, auto white balance.
