Most of the Arizona monsoons occur in the summer afternoons, later in the day after the heat swells into the moisture of the air and formulates clouds ready to unleash their downpours. This was an unusual storm in that it started in the wee hours, before dawn. The small mountain peak on the left is a local landmark called "Thumb Butte."
