The “Long White Bridge” on the Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina, was built in the 1840s and is one of seven bridges on the plantation today. The horizontal lines of the bridge lend a sense of stability and strength to the image. The reflection of the bridge augments the horizontal structure of the image and further emphasizes the contrast between the bridge, its reflection, and the live oaks above and their resulting reflections in the pond below.
