Long Eared Owls can be pretty elusive where I live. While exploring a local metro park one day with a friend, he heard a group of Golden Crowned Kinglets calling out. I entered a dense copse of pine trees, and was incredibly surprised to come face to face with this Long Eared Owl! It was at eye level, and looking into it's eyes was an amazing experience. I think it was just as surprised to see me too, but it remained calm and didn't show signs of stress, so I snapped a couple photos and stepped away. Photos taken with a Canon 6D, and Tamron 150-600mm lens.
