I photographed these bull elk during the rut. They were fighting on and off all day. In between battles, they would graze and even sleep a few yards apart before resuming their fight. I stayed until it was too dark to even see them. When I left, I could still hear the sounds of their antlers locking together and scraping against each other.
The photo was taken with a Canon EOS 5D Mark ll
