Sitting by the edge of a mirror smooth lake in the mountains at sunset is among the most peaceful things you can do! Can you hear the birds bidding the sun farewell with their sweet song? Off in the distance, can you hear the gentle roar of a waterfall cascading down a mountainside and into the lake? The clouds gently drift across the sky as rings on the water's surface give away the location of fish. The air takes on a crisp yet refreshing feel as the aromas of the days warm soil fade with the setting setting sun. Off in the forest behind you, the hoots of an owl signal the start of the nocturnal creatures day.
Nothing beats spending Earth Day in a National Park! Here is a shot of Lake Macdonald in Glacier National Park. I am grateful that so many splendid places like this are being protected by the National Park Service.
