Touring this Irish prison, rich with history and striking structural detail, was fascinating. Google it and you'll find a ton of wonderful photos of the main cell block. As a photographer I found myself lagging behind the tour group, missing some wonderful history lessons but loving the expanse of imagery from such an unlikely source. My favorite image was easily missed--this is the view looking straight up at the far end of the cell block. The mixture of geometry and color grabbed me right away, and the whimsy here is such a contrast to the bleak goings-on that once took place within the structure. I used my Nikon D7100 with a Nikon F/18-55 lens at at 18mm, F9, 1/80 second, ISO 400.
