Macro photo of a Goldenrod crab spider that had killed a yellow jacket wasp. The spider injects toxins into its victim which also liquefies the soft tissue, and the spider in turn "drinks" its meal. The Goldenrod crab spider does not spin a web to capture its prey, but rather hides and then captures its victim. It was photographed at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
Canon 5D Mark II with 90 mm Tamron macro lens and Kenko extension tubes.
Camera settings: 1/250 second at F10 and ISO of 2500.
