Havasu Falls, Havasupai, AZ Canon EOS 7D, Canon EF24-105 f/4L IS USM 30 seconds f/4.0, ISO 400. I was at this location in near total darkness about an hour before sunrise attempting to light with falls with my flashlights. After a couple of attempts, I determined my lights were not strong enough. At that moment, a local Indian resident who just finished his overnight shift as the campground host came up the trail and asked me what I was trying to do. I explained that I was attempting to light paint the waterfalls and that my lights were not strong enough. He took out his flashlight, which was very bright and pointed it at the falls. I asked him if he could stay and help with a photo and he agreed. I instructed him to "paint" the falls and surrounding areas with his light, and I would do the same with my lights during the 30 second long exposure. The attached image was our first attempt, and when it appeared on the camera monitor, we were both very pleased. Before he left, I got his e-mail address and promised to send him a copy of the image he helped create.
