I was fortunate to have a nesting pair of Red Bellied Woodpeckers build a nest in a large tree snag in my front yard. I've watched them every day throughout the evolution of nest building to feeding the young to watching the nestlings getting read to fly. This photo was towards the end of their time in the nest but still dependent on the parents who took turns bringing food back.
