My AF-S Micro Nikkor 105mm lens was new when I mounted my Nissin MF-18 ring flash on it and headed to my garden where all kinds of opportunity awaited, included this tiny green sweat bee (muesedeckidium chrysidid) working the red yarrow (achillea millefolium). The new lens allowed me to shoot from much farther away (16") than with my old 60mm macro, so the bee was oblivious to my activity. By using the ring flash, I was able to shoot at f36, thus allowing the whole bee to be sharp and me to be glad I had saved up for the lens.
