This is a tightly-cropped composition with an excellent use of white space for a visually appealing portrait. It is graphic, almost abstract, and yet completely natural. Well done, Mr. Zimmermann.

A sense of adventure led me 900 miles to Minnesota's Sax-Zim Bog, famous for its Great Gray Owls. I found this one scoping the area for mice and voles. Those yellow eyes are piercing against the gray plumage and gray skies of the Minnesota winter.
