A Great Blue Heron glides over the still water of the pond at the Venice Rookery in Venice, Florida. Nesting birds on the small island in the center of the pond often fly back and forth to gather nesting material. I was able to anticipate where this bird was going to go and was ready to follow it with a long telephoto lens on a tripod with a gimbal head.
