This Buddhist monk is on his way to prayer in the Tashichho Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion) monastery and fortress, originally built in 1218, in Thimphu, Bhutan. Imbedded in the wall behind the monk are cylindrical, metal, prayer wheels. Each cylinder wrapped with an inscribed "Life Tree" mantras, or prayer. Tradition suggests that spinning each wheel will have the same meritorious effect as orally reciting the inscribed prayer.
