Using my Canon 60D, Canon M PE 65mm Macro 1 to 5 X Zoom lens and Canon Macro Ring Light, I thought it would be interesting to get a closer look at the details on George Washington's face that appears on the one dollar bill. The detail in this macro photograph is very clear and captivating. To add emphasis to the photograph, using Photoshop, I tilted Washington's head, added blue color to his eyes (he had blue eyes per my research) and included both a dollar sized Washington head along with the macro image for comparative purposes. The camera was set on Aperture Priority at F 8 and on manual focus. The Macro lens was zoomed out to 2 and 1/2 times. The Canon Macro Ring Light was necessary to see for proper focusing.
To take the shot, I placed the dollar bill on the sofa, leaned over, used my elbows for balance and manually focused. I used Photoshop to reduce the original 14" X 11" photo to less than 2 MB as required for submission.
I reside in Philadelphia, PA, have retired and my photos have placed in second and/or third place in numerous photo and overall arts contests.
