I was photographing at the Circle B Bar Reserve in Central Florida on a foggy morning. I saw this quiet scene of cattails in the lake and crouched in the mud to take the photograph. However, I saw birds flying nearby and knew the photo would be much better if one of the birds flew into the center of the scene. I was fortunate enough that after 5 minutes of crouching, a red winged blackbird flew exactly where I wanted him and added just a tiny splash of red to an otherwise almost monochromatic scene.
Shot using a Canon 5D Mark III with a Canon EF 24-105 mm f/4 L IS USM lens at 60 mm, 1/800 sec, f7/1, ISO 250. Minor post-porocessing adjustments in Lightroom CC.
