On vacation on Amelia Island a Loggerhead turtle nest became active one afternoon. Hours later, dozens of turtles emerged in the cover of night. It was overcast and the sea turtles headed inland towards the condo lights instead of to the cloud masked moon over the ocean. A few of us watching this rare show of nature helped the turtle watch crew guide the baby turtles to the ocean. I had my D300 with my Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 lens to capture the turtle hatch earlier in the evening. Increasing the ISO to 6400 I was able to capture the rescue with the glow of the condos in the background.
