Every year during the early fall around Palisades Reservoir in Idaho, the Quaking Aspen and Mountain Maples paint a dazzling contrast of colors on the hillsides around the reservoir. The extra wet summer we had in 2005 seemed to bring out a more brilliant red for the maples than other years. The vertical stripes of the white bark adds separation from the yellow and green of the Aspen and the bright orange and red of the Maples. The image was shot with a Pentax *istDS and a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 lens at 1/250 sec, f/11, 24mm, ISO 400.
