Last year on the annual Jerome Home Tour they took us to the town's open pit mine. This was a real treat as no one but employees of the mine are allowed on the property.
To the left of the mine was this thick steel door built into the mountain. Behind this door is where all of the explosives for the mining operation were stored. While it's a nice attempt at safety, I would guess that if the explosives detonated, half of the mountain would have been blown away.
