Terlingua Ghost Town is a little more inhabited these days (population: 145). However, it will forever be known as a ghost town due to its eerie history. Located in the hot, dry desert of West Texas miles and miles away from civilization, the little town has a large, above-ground cemetery where the bodies of mercury miners are "buried."
On this day, I encountered my first desert dust storm--driving around frantically trying to capture the late afternoon light turning the dust in clouds of gold. This little skeleton riding its bike through the desert is one of the first "sculptures" visitors encounter upon entering the town.
