Canon 5D Mk II, EF 16-35mm f2.8L II USM, f22 1/100 sec, ISO 100-handheld. To capture the light coming through the openings in these smaller tufa at Mono Lake you have to lay down in the sand and shoot into the spaces. These are the most intricatly patterned tufa at Mono Lake. When approaching the area that they are in it appears to be a ancient ruin field with broken parts and pieces lying about. Many are architectural in appearance.
