I got lucky recently and was able to get some wild and crazy photos of an aurora event. And right in my back yard too--no traveling to Norway or Alaska needed! It had been predicted that they might be out, so I headed out past the lights of our farm and took some photos that showed them in greens and some purple.I decided I might be out there for a while and went back to the house to get some warmer clothes. When I came back out the sky was exploding with color. I think I was hyperventilating and shooting like a crazy person! They kept getting brighter and I had to increase my shutter speed and decrease the ISO. After an hour they died down. I was way to wound up to go to sleep, so I loaded them into the computer right away, and was very happy with what I saw.
