This is a head-on photo of the world’s largest fish, the whale shark. No problem. The whale shark is strictly a filter feeder, existing mostly on plankton, krill, fish eggs, and other small delicacies. In spite of my apparent proximity, the photo was actually taken from a small boat off the coast of Isla Holbox, Yucatan, Mexico. A Nikon D600 and a Nikkor 70-300 mm VR lens at 300 mm. The exposure was f/8 and 1/2000 sec.
