The image was made just after sundown at the Wetlands near Melbourne, Florida. The blue herons were building their nest. The male would fly from the nest down to some bushes on the ground. He would look and inspect and poke around for as much as 2-3 minutes for the perfect twig. Then he would grasp the twig, fly back to the nest, deliver the twig to his mate, and start the process over again.
Nikon D300, 70-200 f2.8 at 155mm, 1/1000 sec., f2.8, ISO 640, exposure compensation +2.3
No significant post processing other than converting the RAW image to jpeg in Nikon View.
