Took this on my morning walk around our neighborhood lake. It was one of those winter days that held on to the mist well past mid-morning. Apparently the Blue Heron here was taking advantage of the situation gliding slowly through the shallow waters in search of a late breakfast while keeping one eye on me. I reached out as far as I could to the full length of my Canon EF70-210, f/3.5-4.5 USM lens, but still had to do a modest crop to fill the frame. As I moved a few steps closer in he decided I was too big of a meal for him and fly away. The lens was attached to Canon's EOS 50D, exposure was 1/350 sec at f/5.6, ASA 200.
