This white blossom is from a Cactus that I have growing in the back yard of my Arizona home. The Cacti only blooms once a year on average and the blooms only last a couple hours. Once the sun comes up it starts to destroy these wonderful flowers. I shot this at dawn using a remote flash handheld over the flower. On the flash I was using a bounce card to project the light on the flower. To much light would just wash out the white of the flower. Also I shot at a higher speed to darken the background and emphasize the flower. I processed the image in Lightroom and backed the highlight setting so the details of the petals began to show.
I used a Canon 5DMkIII, Canon 24-70 2.8F lens, Canon 600EX-RT Speedlite and Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT.
My Camera was in manual mode ISO 100, F/6.3 at 1/100
