I used an F 11 to maximize my depth of field and also used a Cokin 3 step ND Filter to even out the light. I did this with a Nikon D 300; Nikkor Zoom Lens (18-200mm.); with an ISO of 200 and a shutter speed of 1/80th second. I waited for the deer, eyeing me with suspicion, to be positioned for my shot. I particularly liked the sliver of light that helped to outline the deer. I came back the next day for more but the distant Olympic Mountains were obscured by clouds. I guess one has to seize the moment and not postpone.
