"Billowing Bisti:" A shot from earlier during my first afternoon exploring the diverse wildlands of Bisti, with the ominous clouds billowing through overhead. What you see in the foreground is not only a set of interesting limestone and sandstone formations, reshaped over time through erosion, but the colorful, lichen-covered piece you see toward the right foreground is actually one of the more colorful pieces of petrified wood that I encountered during my two days of exploring here. I had hoped for better sunlight to perhaps enhance the natural colors in the lichen, but it was not going to happen that day!
