After a weekend of shooting great fall color in the Eastern Sierra we never expected the bonus day of early snow. We hurried to the road to South Lake, pulling off whenever we saw something breathtaking. This grove was at one of those spots. It is my favorite shot of an amazing day.

The image was shot with a Nikon D7100 and a 18-200mm Nikkor zoom lens at 70mm, ISO 100, 1/3 second at f/18. My tripod is a Benro C-169 M8, with a ReallyRightStuff ballhead.
