Ed Taube from Phoenix Arizona captured this view of the lunar eclipse on April 4th. I knew there would be thousands of photos of the eclipse in the sky and I wanted to offer a different view. I live near a mountain that has a saguaro cactus at the ridge line that I have used in the past to silhouette with a full moon. Since the eclipse occurred near 5:00 am, I knew the position of the moon would be near the top of the mountain. I went into the desert and found a position where the two lined up and captured several images. With the movement of the moon, I had to re-position the camera several times before I got the shot I wanted. I used a Canon 7D with a Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 lens with a 1 second exposure at f5.6, ISO 800.
