Just after entering the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge near Denver, CO one November planning a day of deer photography, I saw this Mule Deer doe and her fawn not far from the road in beautifully backlit grasses. Very alert, they stood still for a few moments while I grabbed this quick shot using a Nikon D100 and Nikkor f/4 300mm ED lens at ISO 400, Shutter Priority and 1/500th second.
