I waited for the snow to stop falling, then strapped on my Lowepro 70aw, loaded with a Nikon D300s and Tamron 17-50/2.8 lens. I hiked through the snow to the Bennett Place State Historic site, in Durham, NC, the site of the last major surrender of the Civil War. I positioned myself, so I could get the farmhouse and splitrail fence in frame. I shot the image handheld. I shot in Aperture Priority mode, with an exposure of f/5.6 at 1/125 sec. with +1.0EV, at ISO 160. I also had a B&W circular polarizer mounted on the lens.
