Returning to the scene of the crime is difficult with 4th of July celebrations conditions won't be "right" for another 365 days. In 2015 we hauled our gear to Donner Lake to have a picnic with friends and maybe get a nice shot of the fireworks. The shot turned out pretty good, but I knew there was room for improvement. This year I wanted more reflection in the water, and for that I'd need to be IN the water with the lens about a foot above the surface. No problem, I wore shorts and took off my shoes and waded several feet into the lake to set up before the show started. And there I stood, getting my shorts wet when I bent down to look through the viewfinder. Nevermind, many of the shots turned out great, and this is one of my favorites. The camera is a Nikon D600 with a 16-35 mm Nikkor at 16mm, f8 at 10 seconds. The camera is sitting atop Gitzo 1254 legs and a Really Right Stuff ballhead. The image is processed in Adobe Lightroom.
