Picture This!
From Above

Our Picture This! assignment for this month was “From Above,” images
made from a vantage point looking down onto a scene. Many times our best pictures
come from making the effort to scale heights that allow us to consider the subject
from a different point of view, one not ordinarily seen. Readers climbed stairs,
looked over the railing of bridges or out windows, ascended mountains, and made
images from the windows of airplanes or from the basket of a hot air balloon.
In every case we got to share an entirely unique point of view.

Wendy Kaveney wrote: “From any angle, but particularly from
above, the tango displays the ultimate in balance, rhythm, and
passion.” She photographed with a Canon EOS-1D Mark II with
a Canon
24-105mm IS lens with an exposure of f/6.3 at 1/125 sec at ISO
320.

David Ramos braved the heights for this amazing shot of the Golden
Gate Bridge. He photographed with a Mamiya F330 and a 65mm lens

he wrote, “clean windows.” He used an Olympus E-20
