Kingston Technology’s ‘Icons of Photography’ Provide Constructive Advice on Viewer-submitted Photos

By Shutterbug Staff

July 6, 2007 — Kingston Technology Company, Inc. has announced the interactive feature Critique My Image on its web site. Kingston is posting images at www.kingston.com/iop submitted by photographers from around the world, and had its Icons Harry Benson, Colin Finlay, Gerd Ludwig and Peter Read Miller provide constructive advice.

“Critique My Image provides visitors to Kingston’s ‘Icons of Photography’ microsite a rare opportunity to have their work critiqued by some of the most noted photographers in the world,” said Jaja Lin, Flash marketing manager, Kingston. “The new interactive features on our microsite, including Critique My Image, create a dialogue between our customers and members of the Icons program. Our Icons love to share their knowledge and experience with other photographers who want to learn how to take better pictures,” Lin added.

“The new interactive elements of the ‘Icons of Photography’ program give us the chance to impart what we’ve learned over the course of our careers,” said Harry Benson, world-renowned photojournalist. “Commenting on these submissions was a great exercise for me personally and I was genuinely impressed with the overall quality of the images. It’s great to be a part of a program that encourages interaction and learning among those who share a genuine love of photography,” continued Benson.

Kingston’s ‘Icons of Photography’ microsite includes Benson, internationally-acclaimed photojournalist and advertising photographer Colin Finlay, National Geographic photographer Gerd Ludwig and Sports Illustrated photographer Peter Read Miller.

Consisting of three elements – 20 Questions, Ask the Icon and Critique My Image – visitors gain personal insight in an interactive forum where questions can be asked and images can be shared with the Icons. The microsite will continue to showcase the latest work produced by each photographer, along with a listing of upcoming projects, lectures and workshops from each. In July, Kingston will publish 20 Questions with Harry Benson, an up-close-and-personal interview.
