When making your travel plans,
try to make time to attend a workshop. Here is an overview of the different
types of photo workshops. Some have diversity of specialty and some
offer variations on the workshop format such as educational videos and
photo tours. How do you make your choice? Seminars cover the below subjects
in one or two intense days. Classes or photography courses at educational
institutions teach the same material over a semester-length period and
often meeting only once or twice per week. So, the beauty of the photo
workshop is getting the intensity of a seminar but in a shorter time
frame than a traditional class. Using the contact information below,
here are some of the questions you’ll ask when comparing photo
workshops: 1) Location: Where will the workshop be held? How do they
recommend you travel to and from the location? 2) Facilities: Are travel,
housing and meals included or at an extra cost? Is the housing private
or shared? Hotel or campsite? 3) Expenses: Could be considerable so
be sure to ask what is included and is not included, like film, processing,
darkroom use, computer workstations, instruction materials and manuals,
special permits or location fees, or any extra equipment rental fees.
4) Registration: How far in advance is registration and any deposit
required? Is it applied toward costs? Is it refundable?
