Step-By-Step Data Recovery With Lexar’s Image Rescue 3

2. Data recovery is a simple process. First, connect a USB card reader to your PC. Next insert the corrupted card. Image Recovery 3 will find all of the cards connected to your system and display your options.

3. Select which file types to seek (.jpg, etc.) or select all and click Find Images. How long it takes depends on the size of the card and severity of the corruption.

4. While most people elect to recover all available images, save them and then sort them out later, you can select them from the preview screen before recovery. That’s handy if you’ve merely deleted one or two files accidentally.

5. You can select other card utilities from the Image Rescue 3 menu, including Test, Format, Erase, and Support. The Erase function prevents others (and you) from ever recovering any data from the card in the future. Do this before selling or lending a card unless you want to risk sharing the contents.

6. The Test function checks for errors and fragmentation. It’s highly recommended to test a misbehaving card after data recovery. It’s fairly fast—around 3 minutes for a 1GB card on a Core Duo PC.

7. Pertinent card data, including size and structure, is reported in summary form and can be printed. You can also update Lexar brand cards or send Lexar card data to Lexar technical support.
