Panoramic Cameras; Gear To Help You Get The WIDE View:
Kang Tai. This 617 back for 4x5” cameras had no US importer at the time we went to press. It is similar to the Shenhao 617 Art Panorama but the example I saw (at PMA) appeared to be rather better finished. Check www.KTcamera.com for further details—someone should pick it up.
Gilde. Gilde’s new 6x23cm camera is a logical development of the existing line and offers the usual bewildering range of options, including decentering movements and multiple formats such as stereo. Badger Graphic Sales brings these in, too.
Fotoman. Fotoman is the new kid on the block with a remarkable line-up of well-made, simple, economically priced large format (4x5” and 8x10”) and panoramic (6x12, 6x17, and 6x24) cameras as well as a 6x9cm. Once again the importer is Badger Graphic Sales.
Canham. Canham makes a 617 back which fits straight onto new Canham and Walker cameras. Other cameras can be ordered new to accept it, or modified as necessary; one of the first to offer an official conversion was Gandolfi.
