Hot Creek on a cold morning is a serpentine swirl of mist, and has visual interest even when the sun isn't shining. But then the clouds parted a little, and the sun strafed the landscape. I clambered up an escarpment to capture the rapidly changing light, and had about 10 good minutes to shoot before the weather closed in again. We waited a few minutes for an encore that never came. When it was clear that the sun had left the building, we headed for breakfast at Tom's Place, and planned the rest of the day. This was photographed with a Nikon D600 and a 28-300 Nikon zoom at 36mm, ISO 200 1/90 at f16, atop my Gitzo 2541 legs and ReallyRightStuff ballhead.
