Have you ever wondered what a digital SLR’s fast-firing shutter looks like slowed down? Well, "The Slow Mo Guys" have done just that while filming the inside of a Canon DSLR with a high-speed video camera.

Gavin Free and Dan Gruchy (aka The Slow Mo Guys) have used their $150,000 Phantom Flex digital camera to shoot the Canon 7D’s flip-up mirror and mechanical shutter at 10,000 frames per second. When played back, the super fast frame rate of the Phantom Flex creates a slow-motion video clip of the shutter firing.

Along with being very cool, the clip is educational, offering examples of a variety of fast shutter speeds in slow mo, and a solid demonstration of just how a rolling shutter in a camera works.
