I spotted this great blue heron in the shadows of the swamp as it was hunting food. I liked the way he kept walking in and out of the dappled sunlight. I followed his movements for a while and waited until he stepped into the "spotlight." This was taken with a Canon 7D and the 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L lens at f/6.3, 1/1250 sec. and ISO 100 in the Audubon Swamp Garden at Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, SC.
